"BASE" is a work created during the quarantine imposed for the Covid-19 pandemic. On March 8, 2020 the Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte addressed the nation with a speech that marked the lives of all citizens and anticipated what would happen in the rest of the world in a few days: the decree "I stay at home" extending the restrictive measures, previously imposed only to some areas of the country, the red areas, to the whole nation and all its inhabitants, has in fact marked like a watershed the historical period in which we live.
From now on, we will speak of B.C. and P.C. as ante and post coronavirus.
The Snail is the slowest animal on our planet and heralds the rhythms that the quarantine has imposed. But it is also a creature that the house always has with it, it stays at home wherever it is and its shape has inspired the icon that is the symbol of the use of network communications, digital communications that have become the indispensable means of human interactions during quarantine.
The sound is reproduced inverted to draw attention to the animal's retreat into its spiral.
"BASE" è un’opera realizzata durante la quarantena imposta per la pandemia Covid-19. Il giorno 8 marzo 2020 il premier Italiano Giuseppe Conte si è rivolto alla nazione con un discorso che ha segnato la vita di tutti i cittadini e che ha anticipato quanto sarebbe accaduto nel resto del mondo da lì a pochi giorni: il decreto “Io resto a casa” estendendo le misure restrittive, prima imposte solo ad alcune zone del paese, le zone rosse, a tutta la nazione e a tutti i suoi abitanti, ha di fatto segnato come uno spartiacque il periodo storico in cui viviamo.
D’ora in poi si parlerà di a.C. e d.C. come ante e post coronavirus.
La Chiocciola è l’animale più lento del nostro pianeta e preannuncia i ritmi che la quarantena ha imposto. Ma è anche una creatura che la casa l’ha sempre con se, resta a casa ovunque sia e la sua forma ha ispirato l’icona che simboleggia l’uso delle comunicazioni in rete, comunicazioni digitali che sono diventate il mezzo indispensabile delle interazioni umane durante la quarantena.
Il suono è riprodotto invertito per richiamare l’attenzione sul ritrarsi dell’animale nella sua spirale.
